About
About the blog:
This blog is not about mediums and after-life. Nor is it about illegal immigrants or chromosomes.
“Crossing over” is about the jump from the known to the unknown.
About two years ago, I left my country – India – to study in France. Since then, each day has been about discovering cultures radically different from mine, learning and adapting.
Today, I have crossed over again: from student-hood to adult-hood. There are a lot of challenges that lie ahead – finding a job (and above all job satisfaction), the pressure to “settle down” and learning to be a responsible and well-rounded adult.
Every single day, I learn something new. About cultural differences and the funny misunderstandings that can arise as a result. About handling the societal expectations of a young woman. About workplace etiquettes and personal finance. About CVs and cooking.
This blog is where I share the lessons learnt, ask questions and rant and ramble in general.
Change is inevitable – except from a vending machine.
About me:
Hi! My name is Gauri Nawathe and I am an Indian in Paris trying to discover this extraordinary country of baguettes, cheese, wine, Eiffel Tower and smelly people. And by the way, I hate clichés.
I enjoy quoting Oscar Wilde and occasionally making up Oscar Wilde quotes. I love reading (newspapers, books, billboards, anything), going to the movies and sampling different cuisines.
I secretly dream of having my own travel show on TV.
I studied communications at an elite school in Paris where they taught us, among other things, to make beautiful power point presentations. After a stint in the advertising department of a multinational bank, I hopped over to the agency-side as an account executive.
